“We were apart for two years of our relationship,
growing as friends for some time until we realized
we had something more. Part of that time, Lee had
moved to Washington, and for the rest of that time,
he was deployed on a carrier. I fell in love with his
heart before anything else. We wrote each other
from the time he left Pensacola until I got off the
plane to see him in December. Our letters evolved
into sharing some of the most personal and
meaningful things to us. We talked about each
other’s hopes and dreams, as well as our fears, our
desires and our passions. We shared the deepest
stories of our lives. It was beautiful. They were so
much more than letters.” – Jordan
“The proposal was the most nerve-wrecking
moment of my life. But it could not have gone
better, and I’ll never forget the embrace we shared
after she said yes. I couldn’t tell you the exact
words I used to propose, but the last thing I said
was that we started as friends and that out of that
friendship we found true love. She was so excited
that she hopped up and down just before I asked
her to marry me. As I was down on one knee on
a balcony overlooking scenic Dugualla Bay on
Whidbey Island in Washington, I asked, and she
said yes. Before I could stand to embrace her, she
floated down to hold me. It was a simple gesture
and one I will remember for a lifetime.” – Lee
