Alex is an airman first class in the
United States Air Force.

“I knew I was in love with Alex the first time I went
to visit his family. He has two littler sisters that I
had never met, and they were both so excited to
meet me. When I saw the way he interacted with
and loved them, I knew he would make not only the
perfect husband but also a wonderful and loving
father.” – Shelby

“The moment I left for basic training, I knew I
couldn’t spend my life without Shelby. With every
letter I received, I was increasingly certain I would
make her my wife. And with every letter I wrote back
to her, I let her know that.” – Alex

“I was that girl that began planning her wedding
the day I picked up my first magazine. When I was
older, I mapped out the details of my wedding on
Pinterest. I showed Alex one day, and we sat there
for hours picking out our favorite things. I assumed
Alex could not care less and that he was only
pretending to pay attention in order to make me
happy. Later, when Alex was in basic training, there
wasn’t a day that went by without his writing me a
letter, and my favorite one arrived in October 2015.
It was two pages long. After reading the first page,
I flipped it over to find a sweet surprise: Alex had
drawn a picture of our dream wedding. He included
every detail, from the outdoor ceremony, to the aisle
lined with swirling lights, and to my favorite dress.
It was really romantic.” – Shelby
